If you’ve read many of our recent posts, you might have gotten the idea that here at Five Star Golf Cars we are all about summer fun. While we do love camping, trail-riding, golfing and other fun warm-weather activities—not to mention helping you find the cart that will allow you to enjoy those activities too—we also know that summer is the time when many in New England put their “nose to the grindstone.”
The sun is warm, the ground as pliable as it gets, and you have a to-do list a mile long. You need the Cushman 1600XD.
The first thing you should know about the 1600XD is that it has a distinguished pedigree. Founded in 1903, Cushman has been making the vehicles that do much of America’s heavy lifting for over one hundred years. From tugs to multi-purpose trucks and several different models of U.S. Military vehicles, Cushman has earned its reputation for power and reliability.
The 1600XD is the latest Cushman utility vehicle and it is one that has the best features of its predecessors. First, it’s powerful. The liquid-cooled, three cylinder, 1007cc OHV diesel engine provides 22 horsepower worth of hauling power, and the continuously variable transmission has selectable gear ratios so you deliver maximum speed or torque, as the situation requires. Dashboard-activated 4 wheel drive and locking rear differential help ensure all that power isn’t wasted, regardless of the terrain.
Of course, you’ll want to use all that power to whip your property into shape, right? Dragging, hauling, and dumping are just a few of the things that the 1600XD does well. It is has a total load capacity of 1,600 pounds and can tow up to 1,300 pounds from it’s rear trailer hitch. The steel cargo bed is 14.2 cubic-feet and can be fitted with an optional hydraulic system for quick, effortless dumping.
If you decide to get the hydraulic system, you’ll have access to a variety of other features as well. Augers and post-drivers are just two of the most popular options that you can use with the quick-attach hydraulic system. Perhaps most popular in New England, though, are the plows. The hydraulic system means no more manual plow adjustments in the dead of winter. And of course, we have the tires you’ll need to get year-round use out of your 1600XD.
Additional accessories are available, including bed extensions, skid plates, fog lamps, a heater/defroster kit, and much more. But many find that the bevy of features that come standard with the 1600XD are more than sufficient. Safety, in particular, is a strength of the 1600: a steel rollover protection system (ROPS) and three-point seat belts protect operator and passenger from serious injury, while the standard roof and windshield protect from the weather.
The 1600XD has all the features you need–and many of those you want–to get the job done safely and efficiently — come see one today.
